Default goodyear eagle f1 xl's

my current f1's are down to the bars so need replacing. absolutely cracking tyre imo and unlike some others seem to maintain wet/dry grip right down to a few mm. the only gripe i have with them though is that the side walls are very soft so steering feels a bit spongy. i'm considering a stiffer tyre to give a sharper steering feel but don't really want to lose the wet/dry grip of the f1's.

i've been reading some of the previous posts about the above and it appears that the xl's are slightly stiffer to compensate for additional loading under heavy cornering etc. has anyone had any experience of these and can comment on whether they are noticeably stiffer than the standard f1's. failing that is there a tyre out there that has good wet/dry performance and has a really stiff carcass.

cheers in advance.

Hello, I fitted GSD3 XLs on Saturday, after having two sets of standard RE050s. I don't have any experience of other F1 tyres, but the XLs are noticibly "squirmy" compared to the RE050s. I will be trying something else next time.

You need to give them a 1000 miles to scrub in, then they will grip. Mine were the same.
