Default firming up the brake pedal?

had new front pads+discs fitted today and brake fluid was replaced aswell, all seems fine except the pedal goes down further than before until it hits resitance.

thing is that on the old brakes i had resistance on a higher pedal but felt a bit spongey whereas now it goes down a bit further but is rock solid

i'm assuming that it's just the way it is and i wouldn't say there's a problem by any means, it's just different.

anything else that can be done to get a better pedal feel?

cars uk99 (4 pot) with braided lines and dot 5.1 fluid

Maybe air in the line, also have asearch for brake booster bracket or the like.

This is a bracket that mounts onto the suspension tower and a bolt clamps onto the brake cylinder to prevent it flexing.

It would be spongey if it was air....... sounds about normal to me....as long as when you 'get' a pedal it's nice and firm thats as good as you'll get....

Run the pads/discs in, the feel may improve when everything is bedded-in to running fit.

Lots of good advice, the master cylnder bracket will make a noticable difference, along with braided lines, plus bedding in your discs and pads will improve braking.
