Question just how low can i take a brake pad?

as i can't see any wear indicator?

wondering how low is safe as i've been told i need to change them and am in the process of doing so, but how much pad in mm away from the metal mounting plate can i take it down to?

on 4 pot my99 turbo.

I would personally not go less than about 3 or 4 mm.... the brakes would be crap by that point though...

Hi

I would say 3-4 mm would be the lowest you would dare go, assuming that they are worn evenly, if not 6-7mm

ah, best get them done pronto then

probably around the 3mm mark and yep they are a bit crap!!

there's no likelyhood of hitting any metal fixings is there? (not sure how the pad is fixed to the plate)

cheers for the swift replies guys

'If' you have a big lip on the disc, then there's a slight risk of the dics back plate touching, but it would need to be a big lip!!

no there's only about a 1.5mm lip on the disc, i was just worried about the pad material wearing out (or falling/breaking off)
