Default Brake Upgrades

I'm thinking about upgrading the brakes on my '04 WRX and am looking at the available options.

I'm quite keen on the Prodrive package offered through the main dealers, and would like to here from anyone who's made this upgrade to their cars.

Opinions and recommendations of other available options would also be appreciated.

Cheers,

Andy

Not sure how much the Prodrive/Alcon setup is from dealers but if memory serves it's pretty damm expensive.

For slightly more you can get an AP 6 pot kit which I think most will agree is the best money can buy.

Check the replacement costs (pads & discs) with whichever kit you look at.

Also check that the new Prodrive/Alcon kits are using a seperate disc & alloy bell setup. It'll make replacement discs cheaper and will help keep a lot of heat away from your wheel hubs.

If money isn't a real issue, go for the AP kit.

you pay about that for the 4-pot AP kit and a few hundred more for the 6-pot kit.

Shop around and you should get the cheaper.

I got a StopTech kit on my 03WRX through TSL. Well impressed, but i wouldn't mind driving a car with AP's to compare. I was told StopTech's were bloody good for the money, and at the time served my monetary purpose as i used it on the car elsewhere.
Now i would only buy AP's i think. Too many good reports to ignore them.
