Default Brake pads - what do you use and what would you advise?

Brake pads are gonna need changing soon, was running Mintex 1155's which seemed to work pretty well so may go for them again.

What are you using and how do you rate them?

Know any good places for cheap prices?

I find it quite funny that I have had no replies here but several people PM me saying, "EBC Redstuff they are the best..... ....and we sell them for £XXX!!!"

I mean come on guys do you really think I would buy from a cheap shot like that? I will be sourcing the pads from my usual local supplier thankyou.

But didnt you ask the question....."know any good cheap prices"
and as no advertising is really aloud then yes they will PM you.....
you probably got a few people saying EBC Redstuff because it is the opinion of alot that these are the best out there at the moment......

have to agree to differ on the "best"...............depends on peeps use and driving style...................
personally prefer the Pagid or Ferodo for most road use, have used Mintex racing pads for track use, etc..............main use for competition is Pagid rs15..............

Nezz - If you do decide on the Redstuff pads, make sure they are the ceramic versions.

7 foot - I didnt realise there where different types?

Spikus - I meant , I got them for £xxx at XXXX inc delivery etc. A buyers recomendation rather than a shop telling me they sell them. I can quite easily pull up 10 or so shops that sell them.

Stockcar - Mainly fast road with a small bit of track, I have never used the Pagid but a quick search on the price and I dont think I will be at £125!!!

I can get the Mintexx 1144/1155 for £90, even EBC's seem to be more than that.

Cost wise the Redstuff Ceramics are by far the best value for money but if you want a better overall pad my vote goes to Pagids!

Just a quick Q. really. I have been reading this post with some interest and was wondering if you were using performance pads with standard disks or whether you had uprated ones.

Only reason I ask is that I want some pads that don't give off lots of dust (have just bought some new alloys) but can't stretch to the expense of pads and disks at the mo.

Sorry to hijack the thread. Just interested.

Just had my Red Stuff Ceramic delivered (aren't all RED stuff ceramics?), hopefully will get time to fit them tonight.
Cost £93 (ish) delivered from Scoobyworld. Good quick service.

When I bought my set of the Ceramic reds the normal (terrible) reds were also available. I don't know whether they have been discontinued now.

With regards to brake dust, I have never used such a clean pad. The DS2500s I was running previously were filthy in comparison.

I am currently running vented and grooved Godspeed discs, std size.

Have been using EBC Ceramic Redstuff ( the old redstuff is to be discontinued) for some months on standard disks. Very pleased with them and very little dust.

7 Foot. Do you have drilled and grooved all round or just at the front? Have you left the standards at the rear?

May have to start saving from what you have said!

I don't have drilled - Godspeed vented and grooved front and rear.

I have had a set of OE discs and then a set of grooved Brembos develop cracks. Drilled discs are even more prone to this so I decided against them.

Currently got the Black Diamond Predator pads in and the amount of cack they leave on my alloys is unreal and I don't think they're as good as the OE pads.

Just bought a set of - yep you guessed it - EBC Red Stuff Ceramics! Did look into the Ferodo & Pagid's but were a bit too expensive for me considering my Tax & MOT are imminent - but also got a set of Godspeed discs on the way.

Might as well sling some braided hoses on there while you are at it.
