braided hoses
I am having the Prodrive 330 mm brake kit fitted to my WRX (MY01) and have been told it does not contain braided brake hoses.
if Prodrive and Subaru do not think these uprated brake hoses are required then should I worry?
my thoughts are that as I am spending all this money on the brake upgade another £60 to £70 (on these hoses) is neither here nor there; to ensure I get the full benefit of the upgrade.
what is the consensus of opinion on this?
has anyone had this kit fitted without braided hoses and what is the verdict?
thanks in anticipation of your responses.

But does it REALLY make a difference? I doubt it.
For example my friend and I both own MY00 uk turbos, his is a wagon.
I have standard discs and pads and he has 330mm discs, brembo calipers and braided hoses. He also has had a remap so in theory should be pushing out more than my 248bhp. So...bigger brakes.....probably bigger power.
We both a did a north weald track day and my car was quicker (marginally) than his.
This involved constant HUGE braking from very high speeds 180 degrees around a cone and back to the other end etc etc.
I can't say that I suffered from ANY fade all with no braided hoses or anything.
Seems to me that your money is better spent elsewhere.
I could be wrong and only speak from experience.

It was a marginal difference and the point I was trying to make is that I didn't have any particular fade problems or soft pedal and i don't have a braided hose kit.

The extra "feel" with braided hoses comes from the fact that rubber bound hoses CAN expand slightly when heated, giving the long pedal effect. Stainless bound hoses don't give as much hence the more solid feel. I have changed the lines on several of my cars now and the braided hoses ALWAYS feel more solid than the OE rubber ones.

Milamber saloon 248 BHP - I have the RR printout
Me Wagon 240 BHP at the time, plus wagon = 71Kg heavier.
The time difference with 9% greater power to weight = 0.03 seconds.
So did 330mm brembo and braided hoses make up for the power decifit, I don't know. But I can confirm that they feel much better with braided hoses, and therefore are much more confidence inspiring.

Just fitted braided hoses to my MY00, and I know get the feeling that the pads are much more grippier than before especially under hard braking - so I reckon they're worth it.
f%^*ing pain to fit though
