Smile Knocking noise-MY03 front left wheel-brake pad?

Every time I stop and pull away, or reverse, I hear a distinct, light knock from the front left wheel area, it sounds very much like a brake pad moving around a little. Any ideas? Is this a common fault? I have a MY03 with 12,000 miles.

Wheel bearing loose....maybe. Or the drive shaft. I have had both replaced on my MY02 Sti type UK with +/- 20 k on the clock at the time.

I had a knock from the front nearside on my 53 WRX at approx 10-12k miles. Turned out to be a leaking shock absorber. It’s a warrantee job.

Hope this help.

Thanks chaps, I just took her for a long drive down the M3, and there's an irritating whining sound at any constant speed, when I put my foot on the brake, the sound stops! Cheam Motors reckon the pads sometimes get a little loose and they fit shims when pads are renewed! I'm about to fit Ferodo DS 2500 pads.
