Rattling brake after pad change
One of my brakes has developed an annoying rattle, which i suspect is due to the pads getting changed 2 weeks ago - I know it's a bit vague but anyone got any ideas what I should look at?
It's a bit of a tinny rattle and sounds as if something loose, but I only hear it if lightly pressing the brakes. I think it may be coming from drivers side, but i did change a wheel stud on the passenger side when i did the pads.

does it happen at slow speed only,
ie there is a slight clunk when you lightly tap the brake pedal at say 5mph?
if so, chances are that you havent a) copper greased the shims on the back of the pad or
b) fitted the two little *L* shaped bits that go on the underside of the pad.
Ive just changed to Mintex and had thje same thing, although after about 1000 miles it seems to have stopped.

no copper grease - thought it was just an optional extra!
When I got the pads, 2 of them had the L shaped bits you mention, was a bit unsure about which side of the disc they go, but put them on the outer side as I assumed they were to show when the disc was getting worn - am I right?
sound only happens when braking lightly.

I believe then that its the pad engaging the disc and rotating slightly as the disc revolves.
copper grease is the best bet, then experiment with the clips.
I just let it go and like I said after a few miles its all but gone away. (no clips used at all)

the metal "clips" you describe go on the inner pad at the bottom.....................its a "squeal" clip to tell you when the pads are low!!
