Question Ferodo DS2500 -- new material???

I am on my third set of DS2500s and have noticed that this latest set is a lot more dustier and noisy. Has anyone else noticed any change?

I remember the first set gave virtually no brake dust, but now my wheels look filthy even though they are anthracite colour.

Another thing that I hadn't noticed before is that the brake dust is red/ginger in colour, not the usual grey.

Have Ferodo changed the pad or did my garage just swap them for some sh1te???

have you got RED pads???????????????

if you have then this is NOT DS2500.............it would appear that you are not the only person that has been "persuaded" to accept the new DSPF material as a replacement for ds2500...................

ds2500 is still current and is definately NOT RED!! and works at far higher friction/ temp levels than DSPF!

DSPF is simply a mild O.E. upgrade pad that conforms to 'reg.90', this means that the pads can be no more than +/- 15% (basically to stop the "cardboard" offerings that were commonplace a few years ago!!)

What's this DSPF? Is it also Ferodo?

I bought DS2500s from TSL so I am pretty sure I've got the right stuff. But then I had them fitted by my local garage. Could they have swaped the pads for something else?....

It's interesting what you say about performance because somehow I don't feel they work as well as the previous set I had...

Is there an easy way to check what pads I've actually got?

DSPF is still a Ferodo pad BUT at a lower spec.....................easy to check as DS2500 are std BLACK, however the new DSPF material is RED

there are a number of "specialists" selling the DSPF telling them its the only material available (a replacement for ds2500 which its NOT) and charging similiar money...................

I've recently had DS2500 put on mine, (after recommendations from people on here). Seem to work better than the standard pads, but there is a fair bit of dust, and they do tend to squeal rather a lot....

Cool

I have had 2500 fitted as part of the Godspeed kit no probs at all, Now have new set of fronts bought from Stockcar, again no probs also have them on the rear, again no squeal and very little dust, fantastic performance to, would not fit anything else.

Regards

John

TSL e-mailed me the reference number on the reverse of the pad which corresponds to the DS2500 pad. Will get it checked in report the findings:

- either I've got the wrong pad instead of 2500s
- or Ferodo changed the pad to a dusty squeally one

Stay tuned...

I have the same pads as you (from TSL). The pad material is the standard black, but the dust is red !! .... I couldn't work it out, but I stop a lot better, so am not bothered!!

I don't -- that's what triggered my inquest. May be it's not the pads because I changed to TSL's group N disks at the same time. But with the ref number it will be easy to rule out (or not) the pads as the route of the problem.
