Question Rusty discs

I've been a prat and washed off the protective coating over the whole of my front discs, so now the non-contact area is a bright shade of orange.

I plan to remove the rust with wire wool, but how can I prevent it from recurring? Wax, varnish...?

Cheers.

Clear laquer - Halfords.
Don't forget to mask the pad contact area off, b4 spraying.
