Question

Running SO2s all round on standard 16s.

The rears are now down to around 4mm, the fronts are much newer and are 7 or 8mm.

Is it worth ditching the rears early and getting some more SO2s whilst they are still about?

I'm a tad concerned that if I keep the backs on and run them down to the legal limit, I'll have to swap the fronts or face running different models and/or brands front 'n rear.

What's preferable - more tread front or rear?

TIA,

ChrisB.

Chris,

If you've got the money then buy a couple of new ones and fit them on the front. That way you can swap a full set next time.

Keep 'em on. If you drive anything like I do then your fronts well expire at the same time as you rears. i.e. in about 12,000 miles.
Of course if you do track days or don't do may motorway miles then it may be under 10,000 miles.

Chris,

I'd put the new ones on the front as they seem to wear a little bit faster than the rears. So you'll be ready for a full set when the fronts are dead.
