Disk Corrosion
Having my car serviced and I'm told I have 'corroded disks' and they need replacing - anyone come across this ? (car has done about 18,000 miles, part in Japan).
Would love to avoid the cost of replacement....
Cheers,
Rick

Just buy some new discs. Try Black Diamond. They are not the cheapest, but they seem to be quite hard and don't wear too fast. Brembo, EBC and so on just warp as soon as you expose them to any heat - they are made from chocolate.
As the disks are cast iron all non swept areas of the disk will show corrosion. Even the swept areas will corrode in damp conditions if the car is not driven.
Unless the corrosion is serious I doubt you need to replace the disks.
Get a second opinion.
