Question

Just wondering if anyone has gone for the pad/disc upgrade only as opposed to the Alcon 330mm kit, and if so, whether there is much of an imporvement on the OE set up.

Matt

I've had this kit fitted. I presume you mean the kit for 16 inch rims?

The kit is a big improvement on the standard setup. I have experienced no fade with these yet.

I've found that the DS2000 pads take many miles to bed in properly.

Thanks

Sonu,

How many miles did you go until the DS2000 pad bed-in properly?

Sonu, I din't know it was specifically for 16" rims, I just thought it wasa cheaper version of the full Alcon kit.

David, I reckon about 500 - 600 miles.

Matt, the kit isn't specifically for 16 inch rims but it fits them.

Thanks

A friend of mine has these fitted and is very happy with them. He finds them excellent on the road and blats it round Knockhill as well with no problems. They were fitted after constant disc cracking problems on his MY99 (which has 4 pots as standard, of course) and they seem to have solved the problem.

About 550 for the discs and pads. Quite expensive, but you're warranty's intact and it's good quality.

Thanks

I fitted them but managed to warp a set on track, got them replaced under warranty, then upgraded to Brembo big brakes. On track I got no fade with them at all, even on hot days.

To be honest I think they got warped because a session got red flagged and I didn't do a cooling down lap.

cheers,

greg

Matt, go for the Godspeed ones, you know you want to. Separate bells mean that it'll be cheaper to replace the discs in the future.

Cool

Nick,

I'd far rather let someone of your obvious experience go first, you'd be far more discerning in their merits

Also, major dilemma - not only knowing which brakes to go for, but with cash being tight, wheteher to do brakes at all or Defi guages! I know, brakes are important blah blah blah, but Defi's look way cool

Sell your household pets and do 'em both.

And you can function perfectly well and lead a full life with just one kidney. There's some profit locked up in that lump of slimy stuff. A friend is down to running on one (after c**cer - so she couldn't sell the removed one) and she's fine.

Failing that, brakes first. After all, they look pretty too

Yeah,

I suppose the brakes look good also, but those Defi guages - woof

Knowing me I'll probably end up doing neither!

Matt,

Are you wanting these brakes for track use or just road? If track think long and hard, cos 'cheaper' upgrades don't hack it. The big kits mean you can stay out longer, less chance of warping, less chance of fade therefore safer!

Greg,

no just for road use, which is why I'm not sure if I can justify £1500+ forfull kit.
