Question

Just a quick question on the fitting of Strut Braces.

When fitting a front strut brace that has an adjustment thread in the centre do you :

A, Expand the Brace, pushing the struts out
B, Compress the Brace, pulling the struts in

I'm experiencing wheel vibration at 70mph - 80mph and this has only happened recently since refitting the Brace. My wheels have all been recently balanced.

I've noticed different handling effects depending on which way you adjust the brace.

Cheers

O.M.

Ask sion de banke,

but I thnk you will find the strut brace is nto just about stiffening th chassis, but about handling characteristics.

Ie. although the standard sti one is crap an flexes loads, it may well be that way for a reason!

Sorryu I couldnt help more, but I know nothing about handling, whereas simon does.

I thought the idea was that the strut brace holds the suspension rigid after the geometry is set.
It is not to try and alter the alignment of the struts.
Therefore the adjustment is there ensure the brace is essentially neutral.

You put the ends on the top bolts - adjusting width of the strut until the holes match the bolt. Then just expand/retract until perfect fit. Then tighten bolts.
Give it a quick check that theres no play and off you go. They arent supposed to push or pull - just lock on if you follow. Dont keep winding on/off!!!! They "hold" rather than "move".
