Question

I already know I want one of these, just not sure whose product to go for....both Scoobymania and Power Engineering stock them and the price is the same (well near as damn it).

Are they actually both sellingthe same 'make', i.e. the one by MRT in OZ I assume....or are hey slightly different from each other?

Help....Which one?

Dunno if they're the same but the one I got from Scoobymania works a treat.

Thumbs up

Gona get me one from P.S. (cos they're just down the road from me) when I have my Group N+ brakes & hoses fitted.

I think they are different manufactures. P.S. Ali & Sm painted.

Ian

Edited cos I still can't spoll

Hi,

Assuming the item discussed is Brake cylinder support , if so can it be fitted
to a left hand drive MY99 scoob ?

Thanks

GraemeC,
It was fitted to the car when I got it from japan. I'm told it's a Cusco item, so you could look for peeps selling cusco bits and find them. Or get a silver one and get it sprayed.

here's a pic just to prove i'm not lying:

I've got one as well and they do seem to work. Plus mine is a nice metalic blue colour, which is nice, contrasts nicely against the green of my HKS air filter

Mines orange, and clashes with my green air filter, yellow strut brace, blue boost pipe, red leads and carbon fibre look battery cover!! Oh well!!

You could always get them powder coated another colour!!

Just spoke to Scoobysport. They don't sell them as they have never found any improvement, even on Petes race car.

It definetely sounds like a good idea, but I trust Scoobysport more than the others.

What to do

I'd like to think I was unbiased, and I certainly noticed a firmer pedal after fitting mine.
Get someone to push the brake pedal whilst you look at the master cylinder, it moves millions and millions of microns!!!
Surely stopping this means that more pressure is applied to the discs by the pistons?

What to do? Well, those who have them have no reason to say they work unless they actually do something...

Take a punt, it's around 50 quid isn't it? If you don't like it, I'll buy it off you for a bit less than you paid for it. If I don't like it, anyone else want to be in the chain

Cheers boys, good thread....

Interesting the Scoobysport comment????

I'm going to get one as I have heard a number of independent people recommend them to me.

Found a company supplying the MRT product for approx £55 delivered incl. VAT mail me if you want their contact details.

I have both a brake support bracket, and braided hoses all round. I can't honestly say I've noticed a distinctly firmer pedal as a result, but they were all fitted at the same time as an APR upgrade so that is a big factor to take into account.

I'm also aware that Prodrive leave the standard rubber hoses on even with their big Alcon brake conversion. They say the standard hoses are fine.

I put these products into the same category as my front strut brace. They can do some good; they cannot do any harm.

Richard.

Aah but with your front strut brace if someone goes into one side of you the other side will get damaged too, so it could do harm

I think it's really a "suck it and see". Could be a broquet battle all over again, as subjectivity comes into it.

As the £/Au$ rate is in our favour I wonder if anyone has thought about importing direct from MRT? Current cost on their site converted works out at around £31.32 and adding £5 for shipping and then import duty plus VAT (if it gets stopped) makes it under £45 all in.

Just a thought as its a favourite for importing DVDs at the moment.

I had one and did notice the difference, obviously if you have other things wrong (old fluid, or air bubbles) then the small difference the BSB makes will be almost undetectable.

To all the guys who have one fitted, I really noticed the difference when I took mine of. Suggest trying the brake peddle, unscrewing the adjuster and trying it again - it's V noticeable.

Without it - Sit in the car and put your foot hard on the brake - it'll go very hard but still continue to move slightly (be spongy).

Tighten up the thing and mine went hard as before (ie squidgy) then on applying a little more pressue (air in the lines ?) it hit a brick wall - exactly as though someone had put a brick under the pedal.

I'm with you on this one Garry.
I have mine fitted a long time ago and have been selling them for over 2 years. I often give them out to customers to see if they can notice the difference. Most say they can't......so I take it off again and 5 minutes later they are back for it Interesting marketing strategy?

Seems that the difference is only noticable when you tke it off after using it for a while ! I also find the same with some of the performance mods like the intercooler piping. You only appreciate it when you take it off.

There are two versions listed on the MRT site, one for right hand drive MUSSBR023 at $86.44Aus and one for left MUSSBR023B at $113Aus.
