Rattling discs
#1
I wonder if anyone can shed a bit of light on this for me..
I've had new front discs fitted now for 3 months and they're now starting to rattle/clunk under braking. This especially happens at lower speeds when turning, it's vey annoying and worrying to my passengers who say "What's that noise"
I've got Black Diamond combi discs with Mintex 1144 pads, braided hoses & DOT 5.1 fluid. I'm gonna have a look this morning and check the calipers as I've noticed that I can move them back and forth(compress the pistons)I have the wheel off.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

When you've got the wheel off, you will be able to move the disc, as it's the wheel that holds them tight. Therefore, the disc will only be loose when the wheel's on if the wheel is loose.
I don't know what to suggest is rattling, but I would hope that it's not the disc.
Happy hunting.

I did have a problem with a clunking noise sometimes when I braked , it turned out to be the springs between the caliper and the pads needed to be adjusted to stop the pad moving .
Hope this helps Dave
P.S. this was for a 2 pot caliper , do you have 2 or 4 pots?
