My last track day at Donington wore the Greenstuff pads on my Exige down to the bare metal at the rear (good job I stopped when I did). The fronts were only half worn as they're thicker from new.

I think that's about 6 hours of medium-hard use. I could have been harder on them.

So I went back to Tyres Northants, where their resident genius "Elvis" (honest) had a brain wave, and pulled out a set of Yellow Stuffs.

The Yellow Stuffs were 16.5mm deep (whereas the Greens were 14mm).

The pads wouldn't fit in the caliper With a flash of inspiration Elvis got out some sheets of heavy duty sandpaper, dished them out to 3 other guys, and spent 20 minutes sanding these pads down (on a VERY flat surface), until they fit. Ingenious.

So, now I'm running YellowStuffs at the front and GreenStuffs at the rear.

Hats off to Tyres Northampton for going above and beyond the call of duty to help me out.

Be careful. EBC don't recommend Yellow for road use. I would personally use Green on the road as they're ace and swap to Yellow for track. Not ultra convenient, but definitely the besy way to do it.

Thanks for the tip Stef.

I don't do many road miles, mostly just to the track and back. The stopping power of the Greens(rear) and Yellows(front) is quite good when cold (Even Elvis was surprised).

Perhaps if I had yellows all-round, this may be different.

 

I think the fact that the exige weighs about the same as a paper bag will help also.
