I have the uprated Prodrive 330mm disks and 4 pot calipers fitted to my P1.

The problem - my brakes were fitted with DS3000 pads which have eaten the disks and wrecked my wheels within 4 months. The disks used to have nice grooves in them, which are no longer visible.

For a month now I've been waiting on new disks and pads to arrive to be fitted under warranty along with new wheels.

At the moment I'm still waiting! A month for a set of disks is totally outrageous. I estimate that within a few days, the pads will start grinding and the car will be rendered un-useable.

I brought the car as a working tool, not a showpiece. Hell, for the money, it ought to be capable of lasting.

Coupled with the supply delays involved with the 18" wheels & rear spoilers, things are getting rather silly and I wonder just how much customers count for at Subaru / Prodrive.

To be honest, I'm getting so cheesed off now that, I'm thinking of contacting Trading Standards.

Has anyone else had similar problems with supply of what should be readily available parts?

Rant Over

Luckily my brakes were sorted quickly (thank you Mike Wood). Still waiting for the wheel replacements (18" gold) though.

I have also been waiting for an interior panel (rear quater) as mine has rattled since day 1 because a clip is broken . I have been wating so long I can't remember how long it is, but I'm pretty sure it's more than four months. Joke is not the word.

I hope someone from Subaru UK uses this BBS - here's advanced warning of a B*ll*king tommorow on the phone. Actually I could come and bang on your desks because I only work down the road.

Now there's a thought.........

JD Power number 1. What a f**ing laugh !!

Rant over.

Kurt,

I'm in the same position as you are.
I reported this about 4-5 weeks back and all I've heard is that they recognise the problem with the DS3000's and are willing to change them, but are still contemplating about my RB5 wheels and disks!

First thing tomorrow I'm on the phone to IM and giving then s**t!!!

I'll let you know what happens.

Rob.

Thumbs down

If enough of us were to contact Trading standards, we'd get some action for sure.

I personally don't want it to come to that. After all, we're all enthusiasts here and support the brand. Now let's see a bit of reciprocal support from Subaru.

A few years ago, I was a beleiver in Ford. I had a succession of fast and desirable high end Fords, which came to an abrupt end when I felt that Ford no longer gave a stuff about it's customers. I vowed never to buy another Ford.

Seems I was right. All but one of the Ford dealers for miles around here have closed down.

Hello SUbaru, knock, knock, WAKE UP!

(I love my car, just not the aftersales)

Regards
Kurt

Kurt,
I reckon if things dont get sorted sharpish, a call to Anne Robinson will be in order and a call to Subaru UK to tell them of that fact, that should get their collective Ar*es in gear, nobody wants publicity from her especially a JD Power winning manufacturer, what aload of bollo*** that turned out to be my Turbo MY00 is more unreliable than an old Ford Escort I had, basically it's build quality is Sh*t!!

Well guys, once again, someone has listened and things are looking up.

Mike Wood from Prodrive has contacted me to assure me that the delivery of the replacement disks is imminent.

Mike was genuinley concerned that people are getting frustrated by the supply problems and is moving heaven and earth to overcome them.

Thanks again Mike for coming to the rescue. Your support of Scoobynet is much appreciated.

One proud and happy P1 owner once again.

Regards

I'm happier too today as my panel looks like it will show next week. Also my replacement wheels are in progress.

Now I just have to get my brakes(prodrive/alcon conversion) sorted again as they seem to be locking on to the discs overnight. Pull off slowly and there is some resistance,a clunk and then all OK again. Weird. Definitley coming from the front and not the back.

Any ideas ?

Russell

I've seen this in threads before and I beleive it's nothing to worry about.

Apparently, the DS2000 pads coat the disks with a residue which aids their braking efficiency. When you stop with your foot on the brake for a long while, the residue builds up in one area on the disk. This is accentuated when the disks are hot - as no doubt yours would be.

You may be able to ease the situation by coming to a halt using the mainly handbrake when you are about to park up. The rear disks don't see as much action and will therefore be a little cooler. Don't forget to use the brakes in order to activate the brake lights, otherwise someone may stuff you.

Mike, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Regards
Kurt
