Question

Can anyone out there throw some light on my little problem? Picked up my RB5 a few weeks ago with only 1,700 miles on the clock and noticed wheel wobble setting in at 60mph through to 80mph.

Took it back to the dealer who rebalanced all four but still had the wheel wobble. Took it back again for them to test drive and was told that all the 17inch profiles were the same. My previous MY98 on standard rims were perfect.

Any suggestions?

My RB5 WR does not do this at all, and I'm sure no one with 17" rims has this problem or it would have been mentioned on the BBS before now.

Suggest you take your car to a specialist wheel alignment centre and have them check the balancing of the wheels and tracking of the car, preferably using the same laser alignment equipment as PowerStation (Cheltenham) have. If they identify a problem and fix it for you take the bill to your dealer for reimbursement.

Regards

I had the same problem, it turned out to be the small plastic/nylon spacers that fit to the back of the wheel to perfectly align the wheel on the hub.
Sorry, don't know the exact term for them but Elite in Essex found the problem straight away and provided the parts for a couple of quid each.
Not having these will cause excessive strain on the wheel nuts.

Did they balance the wheels on the car? Some wheels need to be balanced on the car since the mounting points on the car do not exactly align with the stud holes.
