Necessary rim specs for 4pots

Necessary rim specs for 4pots
Guys I have a JDM Forester with 16" alloys with offset of 48, Im interested in finding out what is the rim spec necessary to fit over the WRX 4 pots with the white on black subaru logo. Is this a matter of numbers or a matter of trial fitting to see if the spokes clear the calipers?

The 4 pots won't fit on the std Forester wheels (spokes are too thick otherwise they would work) or even 16" Impreza wheels as they have an offset of +53.
I had to go up to 17" x 7" ET MIM wheels once sold by Scoobysport. They are also known as Subaru Brescia style wheels.
I think that 16" wheel to fit over the 4 pots will be very difficult to find as you need very slim spokes on an ET +48.
Upsizing is the likely option.

Sorry SM,
I should have made it clear why the Impreza wheel doesn't fit. The Et+53 offset pushes a 16" wheel closer to the hub and fouls the Forester struts.
The Forester has a narrower track (acheived by a narrower hub??) and requires a smaller offset.
Otherwise there would be no trouble with a straight Impreza wheel & 4 pot swap.

Just copying my last reply as it didn't seem to register with the "last post" entry.

Nick,
Can impreza 16x7 (ET53) be spaced out at all to clear the struts on a forester, I'm looking to run a set as summer wheels to replace standard 16x6.5 (ET48) alloys.
By my maths the impreza inner rim has moved inwards 11mm (half of the extra rim width + 5mm offset difference). Could a spacer reclaim the offset difference as I have seen 16x7 ET48 being sold as afterwarket fitment for forester?
Cheers
Ian

The offset will be the distance from centre hub face to centre line. What it won't help with is problems with thick spokes still touching the calipers even when the maths works out.
That's the only reason why std Forester 16" wheels can't be used as they rub the calipers.
Spacers should work but be careful about the reduced length of wheel studs that will be available to put the nuts onto as they might not hold.

Well made point regarding nuts/studs as it's something that's worrying me too.

Cheers mate, any recommendations as to where to get some? Are the cheapies off ebay any good or do you have to be careful which ones?
