Yep it happens to all of us:
You clean your car and pay extra cleaning attention to the gold/silver alloys.
Then you take it for a spin to show off and low and behold the alloys are full of brake dust, that makes amockery of your hard work.

So->
I've just seen a some brake dust guards in the latest demon tweeks catalogue that stops the brake dust from gathering.

Q. Are these things any good?
Q. Will they affect the braking of the car(ie. restrict airflow to cool the brakes down)?

Really you want as much air flowing past your brakes as possible to cool them down! put a guard in and i'm sure they'll fade quicker!

Thumbs down

Leave well alone, they are cr@p.

I bought some for my old car (dare I say it) a Golf VR6, as soon as I saw them fitted they went back. They cut out all air flow through the outside of the rim to the disk, and to top that they look bloody awful .

Give the Wax Wizard a call and for £5.00 you will get some top notch allow wheel cleaner .

Dont get the brake dust guards, they look nasty and will make your brakes overheat, due to lack of air flow, if you are lucky [??] enough you can get the brake dust guards to melt, nice mess on wheels & brakes.

every couple of months I remove the wheels [gives me a chance to inspect the brakes and everything else under the car] and give them a very good clean inside and out, let them dry and then apply some quality polish to them [inside & out again] this stops the dust sticking [except in extream conditions] and a quick hose off is all thats required.

Cheers
