Do you have the Hi-Spec big disk std caliper brakes...

......and your comments on this conversion????
I spoke with Geoff at Hi-Spec (Dartford) yesterday ref brake kits - He does a few.
As has been reported before he can fit a 315mm disk, 28mm thick with aluminium bell onto the std hub. Fits a modified caliper carrier and then releaves the side of the caliper housing very slightly to fit wider disk (28 vs 26mm). Cost 330 + VAT.
He can also supply 4-pot upgrade and disk from both AP and Willwood. 895 and 695 + VAT (I think). Good price thought I.
Anyway Geoof thought that the big disk + modified 2-pots would offer a surprising level of improvement, so much so that he didn`t really push the AP or Willwood as he thought the difference would be minor (road use anyway).
However I am an engineer in the automtive sector so the idea of `releaving the caliper slightly` does not really appeal (although given I havn`t seen which bit needs releaving!). But I`m not sure the AP or willwood will fit my wheels (Super S02 16inch).
Therefore anyone comment on any of these systems?

Had the same conversion done on my Legacy GT-B, was going for 335*32 and Wilwood 4 Pots but wouldn't fit under my 17" Subaru Wheels (calipers too wide for offset)
The grind a very small amount off the carrier - nothing off the caliper itself, and then fit a bracket to move the caliper out.
The brakes are a huge improvement over standard particularly when fitted with EBC green stuff pads (The discs are actually 312*28mm and the standard discs are only 24mm thick)
Geoff is a bit slow though - I've been waiting for my rear disc conversion (up to 300*20 from 250 for over 5 weeks now (current rear discs are knackered)
Definitely good value for money but I do wish I could have fitted the 335 and 4 pots but the legacy is quite a bit heavier than the impreza (and still has 280bhp)

Paul,
Thanks for the reply. I think it was your post a while ago that first mentioned this supplier!
Why do you say you wished you had the 4-pot stuff? Is because you are not happy with the performance of the bid disk kit?
Or is it just.....that undifinable feeling of having lavished something on your loved one! (The Car!!)

Its a huge improvement but I feel the 4pot system would have been better and I had allocated the money so came away feeling I had the second best - but I've actually got no complaints with the brakes themselves, they work perfectly well.

Paul,
I was also considering this (94 WRX with 17" Speedline Chronos with 55 offset).
When Hi-Spec remove 4mm of material, where exactly do they take it from ?
I have the same concerns as James..
BTW, Graham Goode seem to say on their web site that Tarox calipers "fit behind all 55 offset Speedline wheels" but I've heard conflicting reports - does anyone have them fitted ?
Thanks
Gavin
