The front pads on my 99 turbo are nearly worn out. Any tips for fitting new pads ?

Also which pads offer the best value for money (I have been happy with the standard pads).

Cheers

Edward

Hi Edward

We were advised by AP Racing to supply EBC Green Stuff pads for road use. They couldn't believe how they make such a high specification pad for such little money.

It works for us and you can buy them just about anywhere!

Kind regards

Ben

EBC Green stuff won't last very long if used _really_ hard on the road or used on trackdays (red stuff is probably more appropriate ON TRACKDAYS). Longevity may not be a problem as you should be able to buy 2 or more sets of EBC pads for the price of a set of Pagids!

Mintex (1155 compound I think) has a fairly good reputation, and I seem to remember that Prodrive use it on their roadcar upgrade. If you go for this, get the part number from the FAQ/BBS and order the pads through anyold garage (tm?), or double that price and buy them from prodrive/subabru uk!

I use Pagid Blues, which are fantastic but expensive.

The Subaru pads are, err, "OK" for road use, just don't take them out onto the track. I've heard of them disintegrating.... not good.

As for pads for the standard calipers, Mintex 1144 or 1155 should be fine. You could go for 1166 but that may be too extreme for the road. The 1155 will give you mild squeal (sp?) when cold, but nothing major.

For the ultimate in bite, try the Pagids. They're grindy as hell when cold, but by God do they bite. Pagids in normal calipers bite harder than Brembo pads in Brembo calipers!

Cheers,

Pat.
