Not on a Scooby but had them on my Vauxhall 4x4 Turbo and they were excellent.

Question

Has anyone tried the willwood brake conversion on their skooby. At under £700 for four pots, disks, pads etc it sounds like a bargain

John, I have had fitted the 310 * 32 mm discs on the front. Beware though, because there are two types of calipers from Willwood.

Either 4 * small pistons or 4 * large pistons.

When first fitted I found a real lack of brake pedal, ie. I was having to press most of the way down to the floor, now three quarters hard.

I recommend Geoff at Hi-Spec in Dartford, just south of the Queen Elizabeth bridge. Realy helpful guy, and I lead to believe that he helped design the kit.

Cool

No, I had the kit checked by Geoff at Hi-Spec. I have the larger piston caliper kit. I only have to push the pedal about 1/4 way to have a realy firm feel, by half way the abs is kicking in.

Hmm, interesting, have been considering a brake upgrade.

Current funds won't stretch to the Brembo and AP setups, and my car is likely to need new pads and front discs at it's next service (30k).

Was planning on having mintex 1155 pads, braided lines, grooved discs, a master cylinder support bracket and silicon fluid fitted, I expected that this would cost me around 400 quid for the parts. But for another 300 quid it sounds as if I could get a far superior set up!

Couple of questions for those with the Willwood kit fitted:

Are the calipers Alloy (ie shed heat better than std MY98 2 pots!)?

Do the calipers have dust seals on the pistons?

Cheers,

Tim

Just in case you didn't see my mail in the General section on this I've posted what I found here

Picked up CCC today, and found an ad for a company called 'Rally Design' (is this where you saw them advertised too John?). It would seem that they are the European importer for the American made Wilwood (correct spelling!) brake calipers, discs and brake pads as well as 'Hawk' pads.

Went to their web site
