Question

I currently have std 15 inch wheels on my UK97 5dr, the rear tyres are now quite low on tread and need replacing (I put new ones on the front and moved the front to the back a while ago) they are the std RE71's.
I have 3 options as I see it with xmas nearly here these are pretty much driven by budget
I could get another pair of RE71's for the front and move the part worns to the back again.
Or I could get 4 new tyres.
Or I could try and get 4 s/h 16 inch wheels with tyres that will see me through 6 months.
The question Is it worth going to 16 inch wheels or should I just get some tyres for the 15 inchers.

I recently had the same dilemma and plumped for a set of second hand 16" wheels and don't regret it for a moment. They look much better in the wheel arches although I have noticed an graeter tendancy to tramline.

I got a set of 1500 mile old 16" wheels with bridgestones on for less than the cost of four new tyres (although I only really needed two). Try Pete Croney at Scoobysport or watch the for sale section like a hawk!

Regards
Dean

Definately go for 16's - would you like to buy some (gold) as 17's are on my shopping list.

I think they still look gold!

Seriously, IMHO, I don't think they go (Sorry Alistair!!)

Stef.

I have to agree and I've got a silver car !

I'll be looking for either silver or black 17's. The wheels on J's car look good and will hide the brake dust nicely.

Ozzy - don't you mean you can't see your car looking the same without some large metal ?

Cool

If your going to change yer wheels I'd go all the way and plump for 17". You'll cry a little paying for them and the tyres, but you'll never regret it. Somehow I can't see my car looking the same without some large rubber

I'd stick with alloys to match your Silver car, although my dealers old demonstrator had Gold 17's and they did look pretty good. Not crap at all as I'd expected.

They also replaced the silver SUBARU badge on the rear for some gold letters - now that did make it look the part, especially with the wheels.

The only thing you should be worrying about is the style - my favourites are the OZ-racing ones on the new P1.

Happy shopping,

Stefan
