Goodyear Eagle F1 and Toyo Proxes T1-S

Anyone had any experience with these types of tyre in the 205/50/16ZR size?
Reason being, I'm getting Leda B installed tomorrow, and would like some good tyres to complement this. I'm not going for SO-2 because of the soft side wall problem with these tyres in this size.
Thanks for any thoughts.

I've got the Toyos - seem great on the road, wet or dry. Far better than std.
If you do track days though, they appear to go off v quickly. A couple of laps on a JP day, then they start peeling very nicely!
Value for money theres nothing to touch them though.

Dave,
Despite the "soft tyre wall" problem everyone reports I fitted 16" S02PPs last week.
for the first 100-150 miles the car felt like it was drifting a bit around most corners taken at speed but it now feels pretty much glued to the road once again... (I've not been pushing the car too much, to give the tyres a chance to bed in, but when I do it feels fine)
I spent a while trying to determine what the "best" tyre was but in the end I gave up and bought the tyres with best price/availablity tradeoff! (which meant the S02s) At the end of the day, most people seem to be able to agree on exhausts and other mechanical upgrades but tyres seem to be a bit of a "shot in the dark"...
No regrets, so far...

I must agree with Cameron, I've just replaced my tyres with so2's 16", at first they seemed a little vague, after inflating them to the correct pressures they seem great. The grip in both dry and wet conditions is far better than the original Re010's(?)
Chris
PS. I paid £512 for all four inclusive from NTS.

I went for the Toyo T1-S after exhaustive investigations into the available options and then went for the most reasonable price / performance combination. After 2000 odd miles they are now well bedded in and the verdict: Grip in the wet is absolutely astounding compared to the standard Bridgestones, however there is a vagueness about their performance in the dry - you can almost feel the tread blocks moving about under the car (the tread pattern is very open), however having said that it is very slight and progressive. Cost: £415 all in from Fairway Tyres Watford.

I'd agree slightly with Colin. But I think the vagueness is about the straight ahead - once cornering, especially on a hot day, you can hear them slurping (ooh er) on the tarmac. Reminds of Yoko A008s.
I think in the dry, the SO2s are fractionally better - but they're not worth the extra in my opinion.

So is the opinion of most Scoobi drivers is Toyo`s then?
Only wondering because I`m putting on some 17" and unsure to go for Toyo, Yoko or Falkern.
I used to Love A008`s on me Escort(many years ago).
Toyo`s?
Cheers

I'm not sure if anything on the market in 17" will match A008s.
I had P-zeros on the last one I had (UK). It's difficult to directly compare them as I've got Toyos on an STi, but dry grip from 215/40s is phenomenal. Wet's not too bad either. Certainly miles better than the bridgestone OEM.
I haven't heard as good reports about the falken as the Toyos.

Looks like the Toyo`s then.
The best price I have is £117inc, with the balance & valves.
I want something quite grippy, especially in the wet as the Potenza`s are cr*p in the wet.
Cheers for the help guys

I've heard of people getting them for less than £100 all in. At the last Donnington track day the company there was doing them for £85. Do a search on the bulletin board and I'm sure you'll find a better deal.

what will happen if you put on 205/45/16 tyres?OK,your speedo is incorrect, but I can live with that. Are there other disadvantages? I have dunlop 205/50/16 on the car now and the soft sidewalls of those tyres are making the car feel very unstable in corners.Anyone experiences with this(45) tyres?
