I've run my front pads too low (Always bluddy doing it) and as a consequence am considering new discs, rather than direct OEM replacements from a main dealer.
What's the recommended route to go with regards to replacement discs?
Will I need new callipers or just the discs and pads?
Or am I better off sticking with (new) original ones
It's a MY00 classic Impreza Turbo

Any help greatly appreciated

Andy

IMHO non-drilled, just slotted DBAs and some decent pads (are formula Ferodo avialable in the UK? they seem to be pretty good, and cheaper than DS2500s). Just doing that should give some pretty decent braking improvement over OEM.

Just my 5p worth, HTH

PS I run DBA5000s (2 piece jobs), and carbon ceramic project myu stuff, they really SCHTOP, but they ain't exactly cheap

I got fed up with a relative lack of feel from the OEM bits so went down the 'Pagid Grp N+' kit from Scoobysport. Couldn't believe the difference. Pedal feel much better and awesome stopping power. That was on my 99MY. Grooved disks looked pretty good as well, in my opinion.

What's the Pagid stuff like under 'normal' driving conditions, i.e. when they're cold? Do you need shed loads of heat in 'em to get them functioning properly, or are they okay for pottering about with?

On my car with pagid pads (RS 421 & KAD 6 pots) from cold at 30 mph if I break hard at a traffic sign (example) my back boot will still be on that sign, when warmed up the rear windscren will be on the back of that sign.

My preferred choice

I found that it didn't take very long at all to get any temperature into the brakes. The first stop required a little more care than normal just to get a 'feel' but I never felt that I wasn't going to stop in the distance I had allowed.

Had no problems with just pottering around.

Thats exactly my question, I am thinking of replacing my OEMs with some Black Diamond Combi discs and the DS2550 pads. Whats the opinions on this setup? seems the best value without spending mega money

Just found an alternative.. the Pagid 8 Groove discs with the above pads, only £25 more that Black Diamond....

I've decided to go for the Pagid Gp N kit from Scoobysport. £400+vat, includes discs, pads, hoses and fluid.

Thanks for the response folks.
