Question

Just changed my 2001 WRX for an STi8.

I used to use wonder wheels to clean my WRX alloys but thought that may be a bit harsh for the gold STi alloys.

What do you use?

Car shampoo and hot water is all I use, if you polish the alloys Twice a year or so with something like autoglym it makes cleaning real easy for the rest of the year.
I dont use the acids like wonderwheels anymore cos they can cause damage esp if the wheels are warm or if you leave it on for too long.

There is no reason why the STI alloys should need more TLC than the WRX ones. They have the exact same finish.
Get in there with WW as and when required. 2 years of acid and jetwashing and mine look ace!
