ok. it's been asked time and time again. but i just need a check. i'm changing from the standard 15" rims to 17" rims. i understood that 215x40x17 are the standard upgrade. today at r-tec, they insisted on quoting for 205x45x17, ststing that the 215x40 profiles are the wrong size.

help advice or guidance would appreciated.

Subaru 17's came with 205/45's but this tyre size is limited to a few manufacturers.
Got 215/40 T1-S on mine with no probs and you'll probably find that this is the most common size for 17's on classics

thanks for that. it is what i thought. guess where i wont be buying tyres, particularily as they quoted close to £500.
