Amazing Proxys'
On checking tyre pressures today , I am absolutely amazed how much tread remains on my Toyo Proxy's. After initially thinking they were an inferior tyre to my original weapon of choice , the old Bridgestone so2's , these are grippy , aesthetically pleasing to look at , i.e Well hard & after 12000 miles atleast, of mostly spirited driving they seem to be lasting for ever.
Well chuffed , would be interested in hearing if others have found this.

and 'spirited' driving in a straight line won't really wear your tyres out

4,000 miles out of my last set of proxies .... amazingly F1's lasting longer
Well mine a wearing reasonably well even with some very spirited driving and the dry handling as improved some with solid drop-links and a new ARB.
Now I've put a good few thousand miles on mine, I'd say they are gripping as good as my previous F1's when it's bone dry. I'm still not impressed with them in the wet though. My set are very scary even in the lightest drizzle
If it was worth it I might sell them and buy some F1's instead.

what pressure does everyone run on the Toyo's?
I'm running 34psi front and rear. They felt to squirmy on lower pressures; maybe this is the sidewall flex John mentions
Perhaps a lower pressure would help with performance in the wet, yes?

I run 35/36 - tried it on 32 and they just slide as you go around tight corners. Only tried it cos someone on here suggested it. Agree about the wet though. Little roundabout by work that I can hammer it around in the dry. Slightest hint of rain and the its easy enought to slide it at really slow speeds.

This summarises what I think of these Toyo things

Gotta agree with SIPIE. Grip is poor in damp conditions but in very wet conditions the tread seems to disperse water very well and feels very secure. Strange it must be said.
Still cant find anywhere cheaper than Scoobyworld at £78 a corner all in for 215/40/17. TSL wanted £100+ a corner.

Still understear city on damp roundabouts!!!
I think you'll find that's more a charecteristic of the car rather than the tyre mate

Have you had the bumpsteer mod done ?
This should dial the understeer out

If you've had it done already then get your geometry checked again

I'd agree with Simon, your understeer is more a combination of the car not using the front tyres as much and possible driving style.
I've fitted solid drop-links and an uprated rear ARB and this reduced the understeer by quite a big margin. Next on the list is bumpsteer and the geometry to hopefully dial it out completely.
