Cool

Well, gone and done it - Michelin Pilot Sports at £410 for 4

If these last 25,000 miles like the last set then I will be satisfied!!

You could have had two sets of F1's for £50 more?

Wink

Think that judging by Mr Lewis's earlier posts, he rates economy more importantly than grip etc as I heard a rumour that he got 37k out of a front set of brake pads

Is this a record ?

Yeah but OAP's only go about 20mph so dont need brakes as they just coast to a standstill

Thumbs up

Well, I am sitting at 38,350miles on the ORIGINAL Pads!! and they have plenty left too!! what IS the record????

I got 24,000miles out of my last Michelin Pilots - the internet rates them as the BEST performance tyre EVER - who am I to argue!!

The Goodyears have a Treadwear rating of what?? 120? the Michelins have a treadwear rating of 220!! So, after - say 10,000miles your Goodyears are sh4gged out - the Michelins will go another 10,000miles easy.

THEREFORE, the Goodyears need to be half the price, which they are not AND YOU get to suffer on Goodyear F1's while I swan around on the Best Tyre in the world!!

I think my logic stacks up pretty smartly!!!

I can get 25k out of a set of Toyos. They really are half the price of the Goodyears

Pete, you don't put diesel in it to try and get more MPG out of it as well do you? Ady.

Don't be daft - I DO turn the engine off on the over-run mind you!! may as well, it saves loads of juice!!

Anyway, Michelins are HARDLY the cheap option!!! Just the BEST!!

Had Michelin pilot Sport's on my old car, cost an arm and leg but lasted forever. My dad still has an original Michelin tyre on his 1998 Legacy and it still got a few thousand good miles to go! He is an old man however and drives like according

I think you are missing out an important benefit here Pete.

Michelins make the car *feel* as though it has over 400bhp, enough power to spin up all four tyres in third. Where else can you spend £410 and get that sort of extra power?

LOL at NENO.....

Michelins and wet corners just don't mix...

Have you ever heard someone go to such extremes to try and justify a misguided purchase like this before

I don't get it? You buy a relatively expensive car that does 15 - 28 MPG and has 6 month service intervals, then you buy tyres that don't go round corners just so they'll last longer! Where's the logic in that?

Cool

Just to put the record straight, I "QUOTE" below what the motoring press say about the Pilot Sports - on BOTH sides of the 'Pond'!!

Also, have I EVER followed the crowd like YOU lot?? NEVER - I cut my own furrow ..... and make the decisions based on MY brain power!!

Billy, Joe and Tarquin (with Gold Wheels) all bought Eagles so they MUST be good .... I think I will follow?? Nah, NOT FOR ME!!

So? why did I choose Michellins, apart from them being the BEST?

Read on (and weep all you sheep!);-

Michelin Pilot® Sport

Drive your ultra-high performance car to new peaks of pleasure, thanks to this Z-speed rated tire's powerful dry handling, extraordinary wet grip, and superb steering feedback. Swept-back grooves and advanced tread compounds deliver the wet traction while reinforced sidewalls and special rubber under the tread provide progressive, predictable cornering and tread stability under high torque.

Benefits:

Excellent comfort in a maximum performance tire

Extra long tread life in a maximum performance tire
1. Spiral-Wound Cable Beads and specially designed bead seating area facilitate easier tire mounting, and maintain ideal shape in the running tire.

2. High Tactile Fidelity Rim Interface surrounds the bead area with special high-hysteresis compound to match steering feedback with steering response.

3. High-tensile, low-mass steel cords and belts provide quicker response, improved ride compliance, and superior damping of noise and vibration.

4. High Modulus Undertread stabilizes tread under high torque applications.

5. Advanced Technology Tread Rubber Compounds combine powerful wet traction, handling, and braking with progressive, driver-friendly dry handling.

6. Radically swept-back lateral grooves efficiently evacuate water from under contact patch for outstanding wet traction, while reducing tire noise on dry roads.

7. Continuous center rib and elongated rolling footprint sharpen steering response and feedback for exceptionally faithful, communicative road feel.

8. Size-Optimized BAZ TechnologyTM (spiral-wrapped nylon Banded At Zero degrees to tire rotation) resists centrifugal distortion to optimize high-speed handling and durability.

9. Rayon Casing with Ultra-Reinforced Sidewalls and Lightweight Rim Protectors promote powerful, predictable cornering while fending off road-hazard damage and helping to protect costly alloy wheels.

Make a mistake?? Nah - me chief you indians - go follow your leaders

Do you believe everything you read

Read Evo's 17 page tyre test and I think you'll find that they know what they are talking about (independently) rather than following the Michelin sales blurb....

You really would think that wisdom would come with age

Obviously missed out on gaining wisdom by being consumed with a hatred for gold wheels
