Question

I'm currently running 16" wheels and am considering changing to 17s or maybe 18s.

What are current opinions as to which will handle better ? .... I'm of the opinion that the 17s would be better for back roads which is the type of roads I tend to drive on.

Any suggestion on which manufacturer/supplier/model ???

Car in question is a sonic blue RA Limited.

Cheers
Adam

You would be better off with the 17's over the 18's if your after comfort/ride and handling, the 18's even when fitted to the P1 were nicer looking but most owners didnt like them over the 17's as the car became a little more skittish (plus the tyres are harder to get hold of).

(ps i should state that 17's are what Prodrive recommend on classic cars )

I had 17s with the standard p1 suspension and they looked nice. However, the gap looked to big. i think if i lowered it they would be much better.

I heard loads of horror stories about 18s to. i went for them though and went for the 225/40s tyres which i was told was going to rub like hell. However, they are on, and no rubbing! We had 3 people in the car and a set of alloys and no rubbing at all

Wink

Tony is wrong, Prodrive actually recommend 16's as the optimum wheel size for classic Imprezas for handling. They only recommend 17/18's for people who have too much money and are fashion victims

The first bit is true IIRC.
