I Was looking at the following

Yokohama AO32R
AVON ACB10

Michelin Pilot Cup Sport

I Need 205x45x17 or 215x40x17

Closest I have found is Michelin in 205x50x17

Any Ideas...

Speed rating as per other thread (to go on p1 wheels)

David, you could also look at the Dunlop Formula R. I have been in a rear wheel drive car in the wet, and the level of grip was nothing short of amazing.

I will be looking at getting a set of these very soon, for when I go to and from trackdays.

I was told the minimum width yoko's A038R's was available in was 225 (on a 17" rim)

thought they would rub on mine so didn't buy them in the end.
best tyre of the bunch though apparently !

Michelens are apparently the best of the current bunch.

Kumho v700 are also semi slick jobbies, available in a number of sensible sizes available from demon tweeks, check the motorsport catalogue. Kumho also do an even slicker semi slink similar to a colway F2.

At Elvington last year alot of the boys were on the Dunlops and they rated those over the Michelins

If your after competition tyres, I'd give EARS a ring 01625 433773
www.ears.co.uk. They are very good on prices & often have offers on with used tyres.

David, I will tell you ONLY!!!! if you can tell me how to fit my wheels. I mean you work for Subaru dont you?

Back to the topic in hand. I think they are the D01J's.

Looking down the list, they only do them in 215/45R17. Which might rub the wheel arch. Thats unless you have something like leda, which you could make the car a little higher.

I believe there is a newer version of the Michelen out now which is improved. If you do a search on google there a are a couple of reviews of such things.

Mike, 215/45R17 would be good if David had a bugeye. This size however will rub the arches on an old shape.

ACB10's are awesome on a light car like a Caterham, in a totally different class to anything else mentioned. But they're only available in a limited range of sizes, mainly 13 inch but a couple of 15 inch widths. Plus they're crossplys so you need to change the geometry to suit them, front camber in particular.

You mention yokkie A032R's, what about the A048R's? Don't they come in sizes to fit the bigger diameters?

Okay, did some digging. I'm not surprise dhte ACB10s are grippy, although it would depend on the compound!
