help needed with 4 pot brake fitment question
does anyone know if you can fit 4 pot brakes of a p1 or a 2000 model to a 'r' reg prodrive to achieve 4 pot braking instead of 2 pot,my brothers car has 17 inch speedline suprturismo prodrive alloys on ,the ones with 6 spokes which are split down the middle and taper towards the rim ( makin 12 spokes)does that make sense???
if they can be fitted ,do you need to get any brackets or anything at all, basically i need to know if subaru 4 pot brakes will fit and replace the 2 pots off a earlier model and tat the 17's will fit with them on withou t a problem, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese help
cheers

I just fitted P1 4 pots to my MY95UK turbo with no probs at all. Direct replacement for the 2 pots
Shouldn't have a problem getting 17's over them as you can actually get 16's over them

if they have prodrive centres they will not fit as they sweep back toward the edge of the rim, there is not enough clearance for them, i asked the question for mine (r-reg) 6 mth ago and ended up with my01 allows as well.
Buy some my01-03 std alloys and swap the tyres from yours, makes the car a lot more modern lookin IMO.

can you use spacers to move them out a touch so that they clear the calippers as i would really like to keep the alloys i have and cant check as the brakes i would be buyin are down south.any suggestions at all how i can get these brakes to fit???

I think you can use spaces but i think they have to be 10mm to 15mm and god knows how long the wheel bearings would last, also i think you would also need longer studs for the wheel nuts.
Ive thought long and hard about it and the only thing to do is either a new set of wheels ....RB5 wheels looks nearly the same but fit over 4 pots...or get a set of Godspeed brakes which i belive do fit under the wheels.
I dont know if id trust spaces to be honest.

PS you will probably find this thread mooved to the wheel and tyre forum soon

Yes i woz running a 3mm spacer on my old wheel (not the same model so i will take previous posts as being accurate
) which was a 17"er & cant say as it was ideal as there was a slight twitch in the steering wheel at certain speeds although this may equally have been caused by poor geometry/tyre wear i guess
oh well good excuse 2 get bigger wheels 18"s even better than 17 which still far superior 2 the original 15" carp!
& yes the 4 pots do make a big improvement (do the braided lines at same time BTW
) & worth the expense m8y

"strut brace" - we are based just down the road nr the "angel" - we have 4pot subaru brakes on our rally car, feel free to call & arrange a convenient time to try a wheel for clearance, might save you a few headaches.............
