Question

Hi,

Just bought a Gunson EasiBleed to bleed my brakes when I fit them.
Looks a good bit of kit but none of the master cylinder cap adaptors fit a scoob.

Does anyone know where I can get an old brake cylinder cap quickly?

Anyone have one lying around that they want to sell & can post me quick!?

Are there any good specialist scooby scrappers in the UK?

Cheers,
Marc

Thumbs up

Panic over... found a dealer with one in stock and bought it. £12.

Has anyone ever managed to make their own cap for one of these and get it to work?

I took a brand new cap, drilled a 9.5mm hole. Sanded down the outside to make the cap face flat. Then I stuck the fluid pipe through with the washers in the right places. When subjected to 20 PSI this bit doesn't leak i.e you can hold your finger over it and the hiss stops completely.

But can I get the cap to seal onto the scooby resevoir? Can I bugg_r.

I have tried pretty much every combination of these rubbery things:

- Packing rubber washers that came with the kit
- Foam cell adhesive tape
- A cut-up latex glove
- Tape
- Sandwiched kitchen towel
- Strapping the reservoir lid down with tie-wraps

Not one of the combinations will seal the reservoir so I can use anywhere near the 20 PSI recommended. There is always hiss.

Just to close this thread for the archives...

I also tried the Gunson Univeral Cap for this.

This is a "stepped" cap with 3 different diameters and sealing rubbers. It comes with a clamp that fits under the reservoir to squeeze the cap down onto the sealing rubber and the neck of the reserviur.

Unfortunately the Imprezas cap hole is slightly too big to fit in the "middle" step, and too small to be a good fit onto the "top" step. Using this cap I couldn't get the cap to seal at all.

I even tried some silicone sealant too - but that didn't work either.

In summary I would not recommend an easibleed and universal cap for Imprezas as I could never get anything to seal to the cap neck properly. Total cost of the experiment is about £32 (£14 for easibleed, £12 for extra cap from subaru, £6 for univeral cap).
