im thinking of putting 17" wheels on my 93 wrx and what i want to know is will it need lowering afterwards as i dont want it looking to high, i have a splitter that lowers the front by 2" allready and lots of speed ramps around me so i dont want it to low, any advice will be welcome, cheers darren

Fitting 17" DIAMETER wheels could, in theory, lift the car by a maximum of 12.5mm. This will be partly offset (No pun intended), by the fitting of lower profile tyres. A 17" wheel should run on 215/40 17" tyres.
The effect of filling the wheelarch makes the car look more aggressive too, so I'd say don't worry, go for it.

PS: the larger wheels have the unhappy effect of making the OE brakes and disc look even punier than they actually are! :

Darren, have a look in the members gallery, there are sure to be examples of 17" wheels so you can gauge how it will look.

And I have 4 no. 17" Gold wheels for sale as it happens, bought from Scoopy sport 17months ago.

I'm going to put them onto E bay when I get my act together, I've sold the Impreza and gone to a Cooper S
