What size?

There are a couple of places in the UK that sell them - do a Google search for "wheel spacers UK" or similar. May help.

I think Scoobyworld or Scoobysport sell them (could be either, as I can't remember... )

I looked around for ages, and decided it would be cheaper and much easier to get a set of second hand wheels of the right size & offset, and sell the old ones. Now I don't need spacers. Of course this may not be suitable for your situation.

I was brought up to believe that wheel spacers put too much strees on the wheel studs and bearings, you may also need longer wheel studs/bolts.

I thought so too. Certainly puts more load on the ends of the studs.

However, I've been told the following:

Also, good keyed spacers should just be the same as running wheels of a lower offset. (think I got that right) Don't go mad with the spacer thickness, and make sure that the nuts go on the studs more than a couple of turns!

Based on the above my common sense tells me not to use spacers that will take the apparent offset out of spec, and to make sure they are well machined etc.

Personally I wouldn't run spacers if I could afford not to. Especially if I intend to drive round like a lunatic on a track (or private road )

Phil,
seeing as I know your neck of the woods, you might be able to get the size you want from SMC in Ashley road, Parkstone, I got mine there, if he hasn't got what you want I'm sure he could get them.
Ron.

cheers all. Bought AP 4 POTS, told they would fit a p1 17" wheel, then when trying them on they were a bit too close for my liking. ...after buying p1 wheels too......now i'm stuck with ****e brakes. Was told after i bought them that the reason they were taken off the car b4 was it didn't fit properly! This comes from a company on here too.

SMC???

what is the gap actually like?

3mm gap is okay, if it's effectively 0mm, fit 3mm spacers.

3mm spacers would not be too bad in terms of bearing loads etc.

he he! keepigng the wheels! You can have them if you buy my some 18 ones the same type! As they've been driven by me!

Returning the brakes tomorrow, prefer brakes that go on with no hassle.
