Paul,

Are they squeaking when just driving or only when you brake ?

If it is the former, then it is likely that the pad is dragging, usually due to a seized caliper slider. Take apart, clean and rebuild and fit new pads. Jobs a good 'un.

Usually happens on rear brakes.

Easy test, if cruising and it starts squealing, lift the handbrake lever a little (until it starts working) and see if the squeal stops. If so, it is your rear brakes.

Cheers

Ian

Question

Anyone know how to stop this constant quiet squeak ongoing whilst driving.

At the last service, dealer suggested de-glazing the brakes, or will copper grease suffice.

Cheers chaps.

Cars a MY98, runs sweet, but the squeak starts after about 5 minutes of driving.

Totally annoying after a while, but there's plenty of pad left as well anyway !

? ? ?

I know from previous cars that kwikfit use anti-squeal compound when re-assemblin the brakes after a brake check. It attracts all the dust away from the bits that make it squeal apparently....

Anti squeal compound is just....COPERSLIP.

Remove pads and smear around edges and back of pad.

nope it's definitly the fronts.

what happens is after about 5 - 10 minutes on the road, say id drop it out of gear and coast at about 30 down the road, then you can hear a squeak....squeak....squeak, slowing as the car slows.

Apply very delicate pressure to the pedal, just enough to get the caliper going, and it stops. No squeaking under braking either.

Didnt do it when I bought it, only last month or so.

Is it a copper grease relief situation or as you just said about the caliper.

Cheers PpL.

From the sounds of it but I may be wrong it sounds like you have a slightly warped disc.

I hope that I am wrong though.
