Remove the pads and lightly smear some COPPERSLIP on the back and sides of each pad. Obviously do not get any on the face of the disc or pad.

I used to work in a motorbike shop and this is how they stopped them squeaking.

Have all Subarus got squeaky brakes or is it just mine?
Whenever I slow to a near stop the brakes on MY02 give out a squeak which makes me sound like a bus!!
The dealer I spoke to said it was a common problem with Subarus due to the compound used to make the disc!
Has anyone else experienced this and if so are there any solutions?
Thanks

Brought this problem up months ago.
Ring Subaru head office as I put in an email with a list of us with the same problem, they reckon they had never heard of it.
The last I heard it was in the hands of brembo sorting something out.

My Subaru delaer found small pits at both ends of the pad which appeared to be holding condensation causing the squealing.
They just filed them down, not my idea of a good fix on a £27 grand motor.
First service I bet will need new brakes as they have filed most of it off.

the brakes on my RB5 only squeak in reverse. any idea why that could be??? strangely enough my previous car (UK MY99) also started doing this after the last service. bloody annoying.

last i heard was might be something to do with the components of the pads. was told this by a holden specialist when changing the brake pads.

racing pads will squeak like h*ll until it has heat up. had squeaking on both the holden and type r, both using racing pads.

not too sure if this is true but anyway...

Same on my MY02 from starting. However, a quick jerk of the hand brake seems to sort the problem out until next time.

Yep my MY02 as well but only when the car is really cold ie morning starts etc after a mile or so it's all back to normal completely. Sounds like some are worse than others

Yup, same call. My MY02 has squealed like a pig from about 500 miles (have now done near 7000).

THe screech does disappear when the brakes heat up, with only encourages me to drive like a hooligan I guess

damn annoying though

my 02 squeaks when cold!! "characteristic of that model sir" but it has got much less now i've done 8000 miles. Can be quite useful at crossings and lights wakes up those outside who are daydreaming.
i've noticed it goes when brakes and weather are warm.
Howver now , I seemed to have develeoped a squeak in the passenger seat that i cant track down.....no jokes about the wife please as this causes severe pain in my left shoulder.!!
