Best disks and pad upgrade for a MY99

I agree with Danny. Having been on track (Silverstone) in a MY00 fitted with Pagid grooved discs (standard size) and Pagid pads, I'm getting them myself. Helps as well that where I'm getting them from is selling them for *much* less than the big players for the same equipment. Pagid 8 groove discs and RS42 pads for £251 all in. I could also have had the RS42-1 pads for the same price as the 'standard' Pagid blues, apparently they're all the same price until you get into the realms of ceramic pads.
I also have an MY00 Turbo.

You don't need that info twice
3 of our mems' cars have done significant track work (all running the OE 4 pots + DBA5000s) and we have zip problems and great stopping power (even in mid-summer heat).
Good luck with whichever route you take.

I'm after good disks and pads for a MY99
What should I get ???, I will not change the pots for now...
but want pads and discs that are up for track use.
edit to sat: I already have braided lines and Castrol SRF brake fluid

I've been using Black diamond cross drilled disks with Mintex 1155 pads,i also have the standard 4-pots with goodridge hoses and find this to be a pretty good set-up.Reasonably priced upgrade too,(£80 for pads and £140 for the disks).

Mr J. Sticking with 16in wheels and doing track days? Tough call with standard calipers. Not that there's anything wrong with them, it's just that they're made out of steel and not alloy. Bad for heat. Track days are real brake killers.
But that aside, the discs are more important. You must get two-piece discs with ALLOY BELLS. That will solve most of your potential problems. Given that you would seem to be on a budget, talk to Godspeed. There are other budget suppliers, but I can't remember them. Ask Floyd (above).
But if you really hammer the car and push hard on track days, as some peeps have said here, you'll need the Full Monty upgrade. I have AP Racing kit and it's fantastic. Okay, I got them for track days after having broken several previous upgrades. But now, with or without track days, I would still fit them. Unbelievable power - and control (Serious word of warning - don't fit mega powerful brakes without ABS. Dangerous in an emergency.)

PS I've spent a lot of time recently watching British Touring Cars racing (because I have a friend in F-Renault at the same meetings). Snooping around the paddock, all the Touring car racers I have seen run APR brakes. And so do most of the F1 grid. Conclusion? It ain't rocket science, is it

If you are looking at keeping the standard sized discs then the 294mmx28mm discs and bells are probably the better set up , they are thicker than standard and have separate bells , the discs are supplied with thin caliper spacers to widen the caliper to allow fitment of the thicker discs ,

RS42-1 have better cold properties and are a lot quieter. High temp properties are virtually identical to RS42.
They are Pagid's recommended pad for fast road and track day use.
As with any pads of this grade, you must use discs that can cope with the friction and heat that they generate.

Will have to think this over, if I should get a complete upgrade kit with pots and all or just get disks with alloy bells.
Pads looks like Pagid RS42-1 is the ones to have if driving on the street also.

I never run in a track day put I upgrade my brakes in a MY00 (four pot) whit braded brake lines, tarox 44 grouve brake discs, special brake oil and whit Ferodo DS2500 brake pads and I must tell you................I have new brakes!!
Now I am going to upgrade them for the Prodrive/Alcon brakes , lets see

Mr J - DBA make a 2 piece disc for the Rex - I don't know how the prices stack up, but I bet they are pretty competitive.
And yes, I have tracked them on my heavy B4 a few times, and they have been more than fine - more like bloody fantastic!!
