After 2300km the pads looks to be in the middle of his life. Have you simillar experiences? I think that DS3000 is harder than DS2000.

DS3000 is MUCH harsher of a pad than the 2000!! The 2000 is like standard Subaru pads compared to the DS3000! DS 3000 have a very high friction coefficient for road/track pads, around 0.65 if I remember correctly.

Have you checked your discs? DS 3000 eat discs.

Take care

Claudius

Almost right, Claudius, except for the wrong bits.

DS2000 is the standard pad material.
Coefficient of Friction (Mu)for 3000 is much higher, circa .92, 2000 is about .49 and 2500 more like the levels you're quoting.

The dust and squealing from the 3000 will drive you mad /**** your wheels/paint but will stop you like no other pads.My 3000 pads have just been changed after 4500 miles - completely dead.
Best thing is to run 2500 for the road- good bite even when cold ,not so bad dust, negligible squeal and still work really well when you're pushing on.Of course you could stick with nice gentle quiet 2000, and then pop 3000 in at the track.

Usually yes, last night no. Couldnt sleep But anyway, it's not about knowing better than you, I am genuinely interested in brake pad friction coefficients. But I dont think 0.92 is possible? I had a list of brake pad coefficients somewhere, could try and dig it out if anybody's interested?

O.K. I believe that pads wear is usual. I changed pads to my old rotors. One rally cross day and one of the rotors was divided into two piece. Now I have standard rotors from new shape WRX (Subaru says that is uprated rotors???). I cant see any wear after 3000 km.

That would be usefull Claudius Not having a bias brake system the only way I can get the balance is to mix n match pads front to rear ! Sometimes fun when cold

hrubago - I killed an oe set of discs with 30km's of track driving (5 lap sessions, 1 warm up & 1 cool down each session) using ds2500's which are a little kinder than the 3000's. DOn't expect the oe discs to last long

I've now got Porsche brakes with organic pads - huge stopping power, 3 track days and >50% pad life left

Cool

I know what you mean , but you may end up slower with all the time spent cleaning your wheels

FB

PS try to avoid driving the car when brakes are cold and you have a hangover - that screech from the 3000 pads will go straight through your head.
