You can have it fixed. You can even have wheels more damaged than that fixed. But I wouldnt, I'd get a new one: it's kind of expensive to fix it compared to a new wheel price, and it may not be as strong as a new one.

Looks painful. What did you manage to hit on an airfield then that did that sort of damage? Which airfield was it btw?

I know I've spun and just missed a couple of runway lights protruding out of the grass at the side before now though !!

it was bassingbourne - a new Motorsports-events.co.uk venue. This is how I think it happened. I think I must have got a slow puncture from a nail in the paddock and then hit a large drain cover or ex-runway light hole on the way out of the pit lane, i.e. less than 30mph. another two cars had nail related punctures and one had stone chip damage to their lights (the lotus 340r chaps had theirs VERY taped up!!!)

This was the left rear wheel and I was doing a sweeping left turn. the tyre, losing pressure at that stage would have rolled off the rim a bit and hit whatever very hard.

they now cone it off.

the good news is that another scoobynetter has sold me his old wheels and I've got them already. not bad for less than 24hrs.

What you can't see on the picture is that the point where it has hit - there is a crack and you can twist the rim around with your hands. I am hoping that the rare SO2 will be reuseable. It has a few rips but nothing terrible.

Ahhh right. I've seen another complaint about this venue on another forum, some chappie with a Lotus who has badly damaged both sills on his car due to tightly spaced cones full of sand! Cones I don't mind, they bounce off, but filling them with sand is a bit much. If the surface has a few problems like you've mentioned then it's not much good. The whole idea of airfields is to be safer than circuits!

One to avoid methinks. Thanks for that.
