I've got a MY01 WRX wagon, with 9000 miles. Parked with the front wheels on full lock today and noticed inside edges of both fronts are bald. Outer and centre of tyres are less than 50% worn, as are rears. I've dug out an old EVO mag where they had the same prob with their long term test car. They had the tracking checked and nothing was found wrong and next set of tyres wore evenly. Am taking the car to dealer tomorrow but need to know if this is a common problem please guys - and the attitude of your dealerships.

MY01 WRX Saloon, tyres wore evenly across the tread and after 9K had around 3-4mm tread left on the tyres.

Acegeezer,

This topic has been on here before. You need to see a specialist and get 4 wheel alignment done to sort the problem out. Most dealerships don't have the kit to do this.

same as Tiny, at 7500 miles - fronts were just legal, swapped front to back, got TSL geometry done - fronts still OK at 15,000

Expect the dealer will offer to sell you new tyres!

Thumbs up

Thanks guys - especially tiny and warbs. Is TSL a tyre specialist or your local dealer ?? and was this dealt with as a warranty issue?? Before you ask - my car doesnt know what a kerb is and all rims and tyre walls are unmarked, so if it is a tracking problem it has been there since new.

TSL are an independent Subaru specialist in Nottingham.

I, along with a lot of people I know from on here use them and will quite happily travel the distance to have them look at our cars. I quite happily recommend them to anyone.

TSL Motorsport

MY01 4dr No problems with tyre wear, well a little bit on the outside edges but thats not a geometry fault

Nathan..

P.S. Are you coming to an 'Eastbourne Massive' meet?

Another good outlet would be Powerstation. Very well respected, loads of experience of doing this kind of thing and they might be a little closer to you.

Cheers

Absolutey the same problem. Bald on the inside after 9000 miles. Took it back to the dealer, they checked it out. Camber was out so they fixed it. I asked for new tyres under warranty as it was set up wrong but they didn't knwo that I hadn't been using speed humps as take off ramps. They were quite good about it though. Swapped front to back etc.

Much better now with 16k on the board the tyre wear is better. Reckon 25 is doable now as opposed to 12K
