Default Front pads query

Hi All! another question...have removed front very worn pads ,- one had even started eating into the backing plate 😱, and each pad has these 2 metal plates fitted ,- the slotted one closest to the pad ,-
the replacement pads from EBC don't have these included. Can anyone tell me what they're for and should I clean 'em up and fit 'em to the new pads,?
Thanks for your advice!

as above they are part of the std caliper arrangement and should be re-fitted........
the likes of EBC may have a 'bonded' shim on the rear ion which case there may not physically be room for the extra shims in which case put in a safe place.......
