Writing on behalf of a friend...

He managed to warp the front disks on his car (standard Brembo set up). He decided, on my advice from threads I have seen on here, to "upgrade" to Pagid grooved discs. Despite suggesting he went for Ferrodo pads, the garage put Green EBC on there. Anyway, he was getting a whring noise braking from 100...

So he then replaced them with Mintex 1155. The result of that was serious sqealing, particularly at speeds under 40 mph. Ralliart then told him that the Mintex compound was too hard for the disc and the noise would never disappear. They have supposedly never seen such a bad pad

So, now it is back to the garage to fit another round of green EBC's! Seems to me that this isn't gong to solve the problem. He is now so pi55ed off about it, he is considering going for the AP option!

Surely with the Brembo set up that came with the car, some decent grooved discs and fast road pads (and braided hoses I keep telling him ) should be more than sufficient

I know this isn't a Scooby problem, but seeing as there are so many brake experts on here, I thought someone would be able to help...

Unhappy

All evo 6's suffer from this problem, there was even a guy on Lancerregister who had a NEW TME and that had warped brakes with only 100 or so miles on the clock
Would suggest you check out www.lancerregister.com and see how they found ways around this (DOT 5.1, brake upgrades etc)

Tony

I think a company called dragon does replacement 2 piece discs that pretty much solved the problem - as mentioned above a visit to the Lancer register is in order

Its true the standard evo brembros do have a tendency to warp , i had mine skimmed on the 1000 mile service (was only running it in then ) but touch wood ! i have done 15000 miles now with some abuse and they are still going well (not warped )

as for the ''whirring'' your mate was hearing from 100 , its normall on grovved discs , its the sound of the grooves going over the pad , even my corsa gsi made that noise ?
