My dilemma

Do I go for:

Porsche gt3 brake setup used in the litchfield type 25

Ap 6 pots

Ap cosworth 6 pots

Alcon r 6 pots


Any views or reviews on any of these will be helpful

Going on a 500+ Hawk

 

Alcon caliper has monoblock design ,cast body(if this is car 97 caliper). This could be same as forged 2 piece(as for its stiffness) and better than 2 piece cast. Some ap racing 6 pots(as 5570) is possible to install in r17 wheel.
Sometimes it is even possible to fit r17+355 rotor(with spacers or special rim design).
No dust boot option is better for a race car and alcon comes without dust boots(there are some road cars without dust boots as audi Q7 w12 with c-c brakes and Alcon caliper).
I dont like cp5555 pad guides. If you think about new radi0cal ap racing...this could be more interesting caliper even in 2 piece design.

 

Question: who does the Porka kit these days? Thought they'd sunk with the PowerStation ship

I'm sure you could throw some (lots of) money at Litchfields though for it.

 

Porshe 6pot kit only made sense at that time because of the relatively low cost of the calipers (simply a road going Brembo caliper) - these are now massively more expensive so there are better options IMO in particular we use/supply a huge amount of Alcon monoblocks in both road and competition spec as we purchase at a very reduced rate

 

Can't compare with the others bud the ap kit is epic on the road

 

Mark, have you actually seen the GT3 kit for sale anywhere?

 

I've had the porsche set up on a previous car with pagid RS29 pads , Currently have the AP CP9040 on 355MM with DS2500 and have a brand new set of Alcon 365mm waiting to go on my next project.

Out of the Porsche and AP, not much between them but prefer the AP as everything is off the shelf

 

The Alcons are pretty impressive and thats just the 343mm fronts

Yeah seen a kit but in excess of £1k

 

Of course, that kind of price is to be expected of any decent brake kit. So is it a one off or are you going to share who now sell these?

Another good/cheap option is Jaguar alcon pair. This is more wide caliper and it is possible to use caliper piston titanium inserts(for low heat transfer) + regular car97 pad and 32mm rotor width. any 355-80mm rotor+custom hats and adapters required,I had no problem with that..
