as title guys ive got a 56 plate hawkeye, and as close as i can measure the discs are 330mm with AP six pot calipers, at the moment its got prodrive 18" dont know model type sorry, these are fitted with toyo proxies R888 soft compound, brilliant in the dry but im after a set with better grip for the long wet winter months, been looking on fleabay and lots of 17" sets for sale with tyres, so my question is will 17" alloys fit over these caliper set up, any help really appreciated in advance guys

 

I've got the CP5570 330mm 6 pot kit (100x5 PCD Classic STi 5), and they fitted behind a set of 7J x 17" ET45 TD Monza R alloys.

IIRC, there wasn't much room between caliper and back of spokes, though. But they did clear, no issues.

(I'm now on 7.5J x 18" ET48 Milenniums with acres of space lol).

You need to download the template drawing for your kit from AP's website, print it off (being careful not have any scaling options on), Spray Mount it to some card and carefully cut it out using a scalpel and ruler. Then offer it up to the inside of your chosen alloy.

The instructions are straightforward to follow for the positioning, etc.

 

I assume your car has the 5x114mm PCD?

 

Why not keep the 18s and simply buy better wet weather trackday tyres.

What about Nankang NS-2R or Federal 595 RS-R. Trackday tyres with wet weather grip. The Nankang are B-rated for the wet!

Both come in med and soft (or soft and softer? lol) compounds. Obviously you'll choose their softest.

 

right been doing some digging and the alloys are PFF7, and the brake kit was supplied by godspeed, unfortunately their website doesn't show which calipers are supplied with this kit, but does say will fit most 17" alloys, so guessing same type as yours mate ?so it looks like i can get away with a set of 17" which is great news, thanks for the info mate appreciate it

 

generally speaking Ian uses the more road orientated 7040 / 9040 series caliper that use a totally different pad shape to the competition 5570.........

"most" wheels will clear unless they have a really poor internal spoke design

 

Yes, it's usually the actual shape of the back of the spokes that's the problem, when it comes to clearance issues.

 

Depends on wheel really.
I'd guess they are the 7040s, which are quite a big caliper in 6 pot form. My ce28s with 7040s were too dangerously close IMO, not even a millimetre spare in clearance so had to fit a 5mm spacer as I didn't want to get rid of wheels.
Now got rid of wheels and put the bbs spec c wheels on and have loads of clearance.
So depends on wheel type itself.
Cheap option that will clear easy is most rotas, oe sti wheels etc

Get some spec c bbs on there,

 

wish i had mate, on the car when i picked it up, tbh i'm not that impressed could be the ferodo pads, but i honestly think the brembos with carbon pads on my evo 9 stopped aswell and had better feel, just my opinion of course

 

Snap, I have ds2500s on my APs and agree are pretty crap, came nearly new with calipers so thought I'd utilise them, carborne Lorraine you mean? I've had them on Brembos before and are awesome pads, initial bite.
Will be fitting the CL or PF pads next time round.

 

not really a fan of BBS tbh, think on my evo they were either XP8 or XP10, got them from rossport, excellent initial bite and no fade on track, also very little dust as far as i can remember

 

You can't compare carbotech, CL etc with ferrados loool

 

right another quick question guys been offered some team dynamics at a really great price. 17x8, only thing is ET is only 37, spigot size is 73.1, i know i can get spigot reduced to 56.1easy enough, but what about this offset, will they stick out to much ?
