Need new pads for my blob widetrack. I have been recommended ebc yellow stuff? Whats the general opinion on these? And any other come recommended?

Useage is fast road no track use. Thx

 

I have recently been looking into this for my Blob wagon - from my research it seems that Performance Friction Z pads seemed to be the most popular - and that is what I have gone for.

Purchased from Scoobyworx in the end £199.47 including UPS next day delivery (for Front and Rears).

I've choosed godspeed kevlar pads, cheaper than PF and enough for fast road usage

 

Whats the cost and what are they like?

 

How do you rate them?

 

Can't rate pads itself as I fited new grooved discs, hel brake lines and new fluid at the same time, but they not squeal and also not much dust from them. I paid about 290 for front and rear discs with pads

 

I find EBC pads to be overpriced for their performance against similar performing other branded pads.

Its a lot down to opinion on the higher end pads each person will say they like a specific pad but all with have differing opinions. I prefer Ferodo DS2500 but Carbotec are also up there for me. If your not wanting to spend that money though id go with Black Diamond over EBC all day long

 

yeah im looking at the black diamond fast track pads. very well priced.

 

The best word associated with EBC is $hite!! I pulled a set of red stuff ceramics out as they had cracked all over the place and were imminently gonna explode

You won't go wrong with Z rated pfc's, I used them on road and track with no issues at all

 

Been a business I don't like to slate a product but couldn't agree more. I just have to word it a little more carefully ;-)

 

Haven't fitted yet bud - but I have read nothing but good reviews on here. Sure I could probably have got cheaper, but I am looking at upping my power too, so don't want to scrimp on brakes or tyres!

I've got brembo hp sport on my widetrack, very good fast road pad, quiet and good initial bite. Also r90 rated so doesn't affect insurance etc.

Performance friction z rated on my blob and can't fault them. Low dust too

 

Interesting, I found them very good, worked well from cold and when pushed hard but very dusty, in fact the worst pads I've ever tried with regards to dust.

I've tried the EBC over the years, Reds are just average, Yellow's we're okay on a classic uk turbo with Ksport 8 pot set up. The Blue's were okay for normal driving on the type R I had but failed when pushed hard.

currently using cheap Pagid ones from Euro Car Parts in my Forester STI and found them excellent, haven't got them to fade on the road, low dust and only £35 a set.

 

I'm running gold rims and never get that dusty. I'm running standard brembos. I bought my discs as a package with brembo pads and they were terrible. Lasted a few hundred miles and I had them out and fitted these

 

Don't get me wrong, they worked very well but for me I found them very dusty.

It's very flat up your way so that might have something to do with it but my silver wheels were stinking every week I washed them.

My brakes do get a very good workout!! I live in west wales, plenty of hills and corners plus I leave for work at 4.00am and have the road to myself for the 15 miles to work.

 

Unfortunately there is no do it all pad, I've tryied a fair few and they all have there good and bad points, Always a compromise between dust, wear, noise, cold bite, fade, feel, and price.

Worst I've used were Ebc red stuff and best are Brembo hp sport, But there still not perfect. Dusty and lack of bite when really cold or when it's raining. Excellent with a bit of heat in them and ive not had them fade on me.

Most surprising was the oem Pagid's, By far the best cold bite and a really good pedal feel. But they will fade with a lot hard repeated braking, But on our crowded roads that can be hard to do.

 

I bought the kevlar pads last year, and i hate them. They're ok if all you want is to drive normally all the time. But for spirited drives they're useless. I can fade them out within 3 bends, and then have to try not to use them while they cool back down. Maybe im just unlucky, but my set are awful.

I used to run yellowstuff on my 200sx. It had the exact same callipers as the wrx. They awlays suited my needs of mostly nomal driving with the odd spirited run. I never got them to fade on the road. Never really got why everone hates them tbh. they did eat discs quite rapidly though tbf.

 

I think I might go all out and get new disks front and rear too. Although I may skim the discs as they are not that bad.

What's the cost of oem discs as I have absolutely no idea? What brands do people go for other than oem and what's recommended?

 

So whats the stopping power like then compared to normal?

 

In my opinion EBC Orangestuff are great value for money

 

How do they fare in price? And you using them with standard discs?

 

Have you got these both on front and rear??
