Are the brembos much wider than standard or just taller? doesnt seem to be much spare room from the spoke to the caliper.

Thicker all-round as long as they are not touching the alloy you will be fine.SJ.

My wife's Brembo calipers on her car.
et45 wheels as well but 17x7.5.SJ.

Mine are 8j wheels but as u can see quite close to standard caliper

ET has no real bearing on caliper clearance its simply the internal spoke design you have to worry about........

Make and spec of wheels would help, as alyn says, spec of spokes and design is paramount.
