Fitting 2006 WRX 2 pot calipers to 1997 Type R
... Sorry, should state that I mean rear calipers.
Is this a straight forward job?
Are any additional parts needed?
Cheers, Mark

HI
No they won't fit , you need to change your backplates from either a version 4/5 type R , or 2001 onwards STi , the calipers will bolt straight on without the need for a bracket.
The backplates on your car are an odd size fitted to no other Impreza , so the bracket kit which is used on a 4 door won't fit yours
Cheers Ian

Thanks for the replies.
Ian, what would you suggest for rear brakes then? Planning to do the fronts and rears, but wasn't really looking to break the bank doing so. Was thinking of Brembos for the front, and standard 2 pots for the rear. Would the 2 pots from a later classic fit okay?

All the Subaru 2 pot rear calipers are the same , either from a classic type R , or the 2001 onwards WRX , some are red , most are black , so it doesn't matter what year calipers you pick up , they won't fit your car unless you change the backplate.
Rear discs for your car should be solid 290mm , and are only available from a main dealer , and are expensive .
You can fit the vented one pot calipers from a 4 door Classic , or P1 ect , and fit the version 4 290mm vented discs on , but to fit the 2 pots you can only do it changing the back plates
Cheers Ian
